Christian Dior
Monsieur Christian Dior; the designer of dream, is a French designer who founded his fashion house in 1946, but the official date of foundation is extended to 1947 where Mr. Dior presented his first collection "Corole" and "Huit", but despite the collection having two names, it was given another name that is more common; The New Look, a name given by Harper's Bazaar USA editor in chief Carmel Snow.
Christian Dior back then reinvented the woman's body when he designed the house's most iconic piece; the bar suit and reestablished Paris as the center of fashion.
After Christian Dior :
10 years after founding one of the biggest fashion houses, Christian Dior died in 1957. The first name that took over the artistic direction of the house after its founder was Yves Saint Laurent who was his assistant before, YSL remains at Dior for 3years only and he will be replaced by Marc Bohan from 1960 until 1989.
After the long Marc Bohan era at Dior House, the Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré succeeded him, in 1996 John Galliano took over to be dismissed in 2011 and replaced with Bill Gayten only for one year until the arrival of the Belgian Raf Simons.
In 2016 came a new name, the first female creative director of Dior; the Italian designer Maria Grazia Chuiri.
Seven designers have succeeded Christian Dior from 1957, seven different talents from different nationalities with different visions of fashion, yet they all reinvent the Bar Suit in their own way, proving that it is indeed the house's most iconic piece.
Dior Men :
Christian Dior was initially a women fashion house, but in 1970 Marc Bohan created a line for menswear, at first it was called Christian Dior Monsieur, but in 2000 Hedi Slimane changed the name to Dior Hommes when he was appointed as a creative director for Dior Menswear. In 2007 he was replaced by Kris Van Assche and until 2018, after a long period the current creative director at Dior Men took the baton and was also at the initiative of a third change in the name, and it became Dior Men as we know it today.
